Human-Centered Design

We design AR glasses around the many ways people experience our three-dimensional world. By understanding how people perceive and interact with their environment, we create technology that enhances everyday life. Each design choice is built to adapt to the user, not the other way around.

Everyone’s welcome

Our goal has always been to democratize access to AR as much as possible. Countless years of testing and refinement with numerous prototypes, along with in-depth research and user testing, have helped us optimize our designs for people of all different shapes and sizes. We want to bring the power and magic of see-through AR to everyone — and we get a little closer to this goal every day.

Designing for insight, speed, and scale

With one of the largest private data libraries on human head variation and ergonomics, our 3D models and prototypes are based on measurements from everyday people.

Our expert engineers and design teams iterate with speed and refine with precision. Our internal facilities mean we can model and prototype rapidly with reduced costs.

Prototyping for human variation

In-House Collaboration & Speed

Our expert engineers and designers work collaboratively in our in-house facilities to turn hardware and software ideas into high-fidelity prototypes — quickly.

Rapid Iteration & Learning

Our rapid, iterative approach to prototyping reveals risks early and helps partners make informed decisions by testing the form, function, and user experience of 3D models.

Human & Environment Focused

We move from prototype to proof of concept by validating ergonomics, comfort, clarity, and environmental context through efficient feedback loops and iterative testing.

Partnerships & Scaling

We work directly with our partners to drive innovation that shapes better systems, sparks new ideas, and grows the scope of what’s possible in AR.

Designed for human variation

Every design starts with the diversity of people in mind. With nearly 2,000 head scans and robust biometric data points, our extensive database informs our detailed understanding of face shape, eye position, and human geometry. We've created a world-class foundation for understanding variations in head and facial anatomy. Those insights help us design AR devices that offer visual clarity to all-day wearability — all while feeling like they were custom made for each user.

Designing for an intuitive experience

We build AR that responds to what users are doing, where they are, and how they interact with their physical surroundings.

By keeping the interface intuitive, context-aware, and adaptive, AR becomes a tool that supports everyday tasks that feels like a seamless extension of the user.
